The Man Who Taught the World to Forgive: A Story of Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela was one of the most respected leaders in the world. He spent his life fighting for justice and equal rights, especially in South Africa, where racial discrimination under the system of apartheid was a defining struggle for many years.

His Early Life

Mandela was born in 1918 in a small village called Mvezo. He grew up in a time when Black South Africans didn’t have the same rights as white people. As a young man, he decided to stand up against the unfair system known as apartheid.

Fighting for Freedom

He became a lawyer and joined the African National Congress (ANC), working to bring people together. This made the government angry, and he was put in prison for speaking out. He spent 27 years in jail.

Forgiveness, Not Revenge

When he was released, instead of seeking revenge, Mandela chose peace. In 1994, he became the first Black president of South Africa and worked to unite people of all races.

Forgiveness liberates the soul. It removes fear.
